Thiruvananthapuram: Corona havoc in Kerala is increasing rapidly. On Saturday, the maximum number of 1,608 new corona patients appeared in a day in which 31 health workers are present. The total number of patients in the state has increased to 42,885. 7 people infected with Corona infection have died during this period, taking the number of deaths due to infection in the state to 146. State Health Minister KK Selja said in this regard that 803 patients have become healthy during this period while 14,891 patients are undergoing treatment. He said that out of 1,608 new cases reported, 1,409 people have been infected due to corona patient contact.

Minister Shailaja further said that the source of infection of 112 infected people has not been known. He told that 74 of the new cases have returned from abroad while 90 have come to Kerala from other countries. According to the Health Minister, there are 31 health workers among the infected. In a release, he told that among the 7 people who have lost their lives, 2 are about 69 years of age. The ages of others are 58,70,64,75 and 81 years respectively. Minister Shailaja further told that the deceased are from Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Ernakulam and Kasaragod district. He told about this time that with 803 people being infection free during this period, 27,779 people in the state have been cured of this infection so far.

In this release, quoting Minister Shailaja has been said, "At present, treatment of 14,891 infected people is underway. At least 1,60,169 people have been kept under surveillance, out of which 13,358 people have been kept in separate wards of different hospitals. ''
