New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its recently released election manifesto, accusing the ruling party of not accomplishing significant achievements during its tenure that could benefit the youth and farmers of the nation. Speaking to reporters, Kharge expressed doubts about the credibility of the BJP's manifesto.

"He (PM Narendra Modi) had promised to double farmers' income and provide a legal guarantee for increasing MSP, but he hasn't done anything substantial during his time in office that would benefit all sections of society. The youth are struggling to find jobs, and inflation is on the rise. It seems like he isn't concerned about addressing these issues," Kharge remarked.

Kharge further stated that the BJP's manifesto reflects the party's lack of substantive offerings for the people. "It wouldn't be wise to trust their manifesto again. It demonstrates that they have little to offer to the people," he added.

The BJP released its manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections under the slogan 'Modi's Guarantee 2024.' The manifesto, titled 'Sankalp Patra,' emphasizes women's empowerment, youth upliftment, and poverty alleviation. It aims to focus on the GYAN scheme, targeting the welfare of the poor, youth, farmers, and women. Additionally, it highlights initiatives to make India prosperous, enhance international relations, and promote overall development.

Congress leader Manish Tewari, who is also contesting in the general elections, questioned the BJP, particularly regarding the issues of inflation and rural distress. "People want to understand why inflation is burdening the common man. They also want answers regarding the budget allocation for MNREGA, which reflects rural distress," Tewari remarked. He further suggested that the discontent among the public could translate into electoral defeat for the NDA-BJP alliance.

The Lok Sabha elections in India are scheduled to be held from April 19, 2024, to June 1, 2024, across seven phases. The results are expected to be announced on June 4, 2024, following the completion of the voting process.
