Jawaharlal Nehru was born on 14 November 1889 in Allahabad in British India. He was the first Prime Minister of the country and was a central figure in Indian politics till the twentieth century. Today is Nehru's birth anniversary. Jawaharlal Nehru studied at Harrow and Trinity College, Cambridge. He did his Bachelor of Law from the Inner Temple. His friends there affectionately called him Nehru.
Nehru studied in England for 7 years and toured the country only twice during this period. He took admission in the Debate Club in Cambridge, but in 3 years he joined debate only once. He used to spend heavily on sports, gambling, clothes, and books. In his autobiography, Jawaharlal Nehru, referring to his wife, said, I almost ignored her.
In November 1917, Kamala gave birth to a daughter, Indira Priyadarshini, who later succeeded her PM and as the head of the Congress party. Kamala also gave birth to a boy in November 1924, but he lived only for a week. Jawaharlal Nehru's name was associated with many women, including Edwina Mountbatten, Padmaja (Sarojini Naidu's daughter), Devikarani (film actress).
