Korea is geared up to face strong opponents, including Malaysia, Pakistan, China, Japan, and hosts India. Their tournament journey will commence with a clash against Japan on August 3rd. Seok Kyo Shin, the Korean head coach, emphasized the significance of the tournament as it serves as a preparatory event for the upcoming Asian Games. Their ultimate goal is to secure a spot in the Paris Olympics next year, and they are determined to perform their best in the Asian Champions Trophy.

Captain Nam Yong Lee revealed that the team has been well-prepared, thanks to their recent tour of Europe for friendly games, which aided in their readiness for the tournament. Lee expressed the team's excitement to compete against India, given the host nation's pool of talented players.

Regarding the weather conditions in Chennai, Lee shared his familiarity with the city's climate due to his previous visit during the 2007 Asia Cup. He noted the similarity of the weather in Chennai to that of South Korea, where it is also hot.

On the other hand, Japan, after securing the second position in the previous edition of the tournament, is determined to clinch their maiden title in the history of the Asian Champions Trophy Chennai 2023.

Coach Akira Takahashi expressed his happiness to be a part of the tournament in Chennai and the team's enthusiasm to give their best in the competition. He reassured that the hot weather in the city would not pose a challenge as it resembles Japan's climate, allowing them to acclimate easily.

In terms of preparations, Takahashi mentioned fine-tuning their defense and attack structures and implementing new strategies. Their primary target is to reach at least the final of the competition.

Both teams are geared up and eager to display their prowess in the upcoming Asian Champions Trophy, promising an exciting and competitive tournament ahead.
