Banks in many states will be closed on Monday, August 26, 2024, in observance of Krishna Janmashtami, a significant festival celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna. This year, Krishna Janmashtami falls on a Monday, following a weekend of bank holidays.

Bank Holiday Schedule

Banks will not operate on August 24, 2024, which is the fourth Saturday of the month. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks are closed on the second and fourth Saturdays, as well as Sundays and other national or regional holidays. August 25 will be a Sunday, and the following day, August 26, is observed as Krishna Janmashtami in several states.

States with Bank Closures

In the following states, banks will be closed on August 26: Gujarat, Odisha, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, Jammu and Srinagar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, and Himachal Pradesh.

Banks will remain open on August 26 in the states of Tripura, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Kerala, Nagaland, New Delhi, and Goa.

Despite the physical bank closures, customers can still access a range of services through digital banking channels. Most banks offer internet banking, WhatsApp banking, SMS banking, and mobile banking. These digital platforms allow users to perform various financial and non-financial transactions conveniently, ensuring that banking needs can be managed efficiently even during holidays.
