K’tka’s 298students wait to be evacuated as Govt tries to bolster ‘Operation Ganga’

Bengaluru: With thousands of Indian citizens returning from Ukraine as part of Operation Ganga, the Karnataka government announced on Saturday that 368 students had been evacuated from the country, with the remaining 298 expected to return in the next three to four days.

On February 24, the Karnataka government appointed a nodal officer to aid the evacuation and smooth transit of citizens from the state who are stranded in Ukraine's troubled region to their destinations.

Meanwhile, the Union government has depkloyed  'special envoys' to four bordering nations to coordinate and supervise the evacuation of Indian nationals.

Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri is in charge of evacuation efforts in Hungary, while Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju is in charge of evacuation efforts in Slovakia, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia is in charge of evacuation efforts in Romania, and General VK Singh is in charge of evacuation efforts in Poland.
