On Tuesday, The fifth bathing festival of Maghi Purnima at Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj began this morning. A massive number of devotees and tourists were seen reaching Sangam Ghat to offers prayers and take the holy dip on the occasion.

In ahead of security and convenience Traffic restrictions have been imposed in the district today in view of the heavy rush of pilgrims. Entry of heavy vehicles has been restricted into the district and all types of vehicles including pass holders are banned to enter the Mela. Only vehicles related to essential services, media and administration are being allowed.

It is to be noted that Tuesday's gathering will be the second largest contingent of the Kumbh to leave the Mela prior to Mahashivratri. The administration has developed 40 bathing ghats for devotees which are eight kilometers long. Elaborate security arrangements are also in place, with additional central para military forces being deployed.Two bridges on Ganga and Yamuna rivers have been closed for traffic and only the old bridge on Yamuna is open for traffic.

Additional watch towers have been set up with public address system to regulate the rush of devotees. The administration said photography will not be allowed within the 100 feet proximity of bathing ghats, as per order of Allahabad High court. Educational institutions in Prayagraj have been closed for three days in view of the occasion. The administration has also deployed magistrates and police officers at sensitive areas for avoiding congregation of devotees at one place in the vicinity
