The migration of workers who have come to Delhi-NCR for livelihood continues. As soon as Lockdown-1 started, workers started returning to their homes. Even after this, millions of workers stayed in the hope that the situation would improve and they would get work again. Now after two months their expectations turned down.

There was an exemption in Lockdown-4, but due to lack of raw materials and adequate human resources, the businesses have not started completely. Their money ended paying food and house rent. The future is scaring the workers so much that they want to return home.

Ramchandra, who lives in JJ Colony in Wazirpur, Delhi, says, 'I am from Bihar and used to work in the factory here. The factory owner had said that he would start work soon. Now after two months nothing changed, the work has not started. There is no reason to stay here. Mithun, daily wage labour from Madhya Pradesh, we cannot ask for food and money from anyone. There was no help from the government either. That is why we have decided to go home. Rajesh of Araria in Bihar used to work on the fast-food stalls in Gurugram. He told, 'People are saying that now they cannot work as before. How long can you stay like this? So it would be fine to go home. There is a similar story of thousands of people standing in queues outside screening centres to go to Bihar, Uttar Pradesh by Shramik Special trains.
