New Delhi: News journalist Raman Kashyap has also been killed in the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh. It is alleged that he was beaten to death by the protesting farmers. Since then, there has been resentment among the people towards Rakesh Tikait, spokesperson of the Bharatiya Kisa Union (BKU), who has been accused of threatening the media. It is alleged that Rakesh Tikait had threatened reporters while talking to media in Chhattisgarh's capital Raipur.

Pankaj Jha, the journalist', said via Twitter, "One of our colleagues reporting in Lakhimpur, Raman, has died. May God give peace to his soul. Raman Kashyap was a resident of Nighasan area and rushed to the spot for coverage of the incident. The family confirmed his death.'' 

In Raipur, farmer leader Rakesh Tikait had threatened the media saying, "The next target of the government is the media.'' Rakesh Tikait's brother Naresh Tikait was caught in a sting operation by Zee News due to his dual policies. The incident was said to be the result of his anger towards the media. After Tikait's threat, people had said that Tikait wanted to threaten the media and do it in his favour.
