Lucknow: Sumaiya Rana, the elder daughter of poet Munawwar Rana and leader of Samajwadi Party (SP), has been put under house arrest by the UP police. Sumaiya Rana had reached Lakhimpur Kheri on Monday. There she had met the families of the deceased and injured farmers. She has been put under house arrest by the Uttar Pradesh police over the same case.

According to the information, she has been house arrest from around 11 pm on Monday night. She has posted several videos and photos of Lakhimpur Kheri on her Twitter handle. In a tweet, she posted a photo. Many policemen are seen with her in this photo. Along with women police personnel are also present. Sumaiya Rana wrote in the photo caption- Imprisoned since midnight.

 

 

In another tweet, she uploaded a video. In its caption, he wrote, 'BJP dictatorship comes to a woman's house at one o'clock in the night with the force and talks about Beti Bachao. Shame on you UP police.' Eight people were killed in violence in the Tikunia area of Lakhimpur Kheri district on Sunday during a protest by farmers over the visit of Uttar Pradesh deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya. An FIR has been registered against the Union minister's son and several others in connection with the violence.
