Joram People's Movement (ZPM) leader Lal Duhoma took oath as the new CM of Mizoram on Friday. Reports say that Governor Hari Babu Kambamapati also administered the oath of office and secrecy to Lalduhoma and other ministers at the Raj Bhavan premises in the capital, Aizawl. Before that, on Wednesday, Lal Duhoma met with the Governor and submitted a claim to form the government. ZPM has won 27 out of 40 seats in the state and swept away MNF and Congress.
How ZPM maintained 'Jalwa': Reports say that ex-IPS Lal Duhoma has formed a party called Zoram Nationalist Party, through which he became active in state politics. On the other hand, Lal Duhoma's party has formed an alliance with five other small parties in the state. After this, the alliance transformed into a political party, which came into existence in 2017 as the JDPM party.
After all, who is former IPS Lalduhoma? : Reports say that the president of ZPM, which has emerged as the largest party in Mizoram, Lalduhoma is a former IPC officer from Mizoram. According to a local report, from 1972 to 1977 Lal Duhoma served as Principal Assistant to the CM of Mizoram. After his graduation, he appeared in the Indian Civil Services Examination. After joining the IPC in 1977, he also served as a squad leader in Goa. During his deployment, he took massive action against smugglers. His achievements as a police officer started making headlines in the newspapers. In 1982, former PM Indira Gandhi appointed him as her security in-charge. Special promotion as Deputy Commissioner of Police was also given. He was also the Secretary of the Organizing Committee of the 1982 Asian Games under the chairmanship of Rajiv Gandhi.
