On Saturday, Two militants have been killed and one captured in south Kashmir where security forces have been battling militants at three places, officials said. Police said that security forces laid a cordon around Peth Dialgam area of Anantnag district late-night on Saturday after getting inputs about the presence of militants. The cordon triggered an exchange of fire which continued till morning. After getting information about presence of militants in Anantnag, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area. The operation turned into an encounter when the militants fired upon the forces. Another gunfight is on in Shopian and further details are awaited.

Army spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia said a militant was killed in the joint operation by police, army and CRPF. Arms and ammunition were recovered and the operation is over, Col Kalia said. J&K police tweeted that a militant was also captured from the encounter site in Anantnag. “Both the militants belonged to outlawed Hizbul Mujahideen outfit,” they said. In neighbouring Shopian district, security forces are engaged in gun battles with militants at two places—Dragad and Kachdora villages, which started late night. Col Kalia said a militant has been killed in the Dragad operation which is still going on. At Kachdora, unconfirmed reports said that two army men have been wounded. Police or army did not confirm any army injuries.
