New Delhi: Attention motion was brought in Rajya Sabha today in the WhatsApp spying case. Many members expressed concern that this is an intrusion into the privacy of the people. Replying to the proposal, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that there was no unauthorized espionage, but the security agency which works for the security integrity of India in terms of security would do it according to the need of India only for the security of India.

He said that we all have the right to privacy, but the court also said that terrorists and corrupt people do not have the right to privacy. The Law Minister said that "There are also some fundamental restrictions in the Fundamental Right to Freedom Speech which is linked to security, we have to balance the security and freedom of the country. Data can be intercepted for the integrity of the country."

He said that we will do everything for India's security through the officials determined and fixed on the basis of rules, but India will not compromise on its data sovereignty. We are going to bring the data protection bill soon. If someone's message spoils the harmony, violence happens, then who started this, is talking to WhatsApp. For those who did the origin, they would have to inform the security agency concerned."
