The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) of the United Nations has said that climate change can be seen in East Africa, India, and some areas of Pak. After which the attack of the locust can cause trouble in terms of food security. The United Nations special agency said that climate change such as temperature and rainfall in desert areas may increase. The strong winds associated with tropical cyclones are believed to create a new environment for insect breeding, development, and migration.

According to media reports, large and deadly swarms of locusts were attacked in more than 2 dozen cities of Rajasthan, MP, and Gujarat. Whereas in February this year, Pakistan had declared a state of emergency, saying that such an attack of locusts has never happened in the last two decades.

WHO cited an article of Nature Climate Change, that desert locusts have existed in these areas since ancient times. Recently, the reason for its aggressiveness can be seen related to climate change. Researchers at the Intergovernmental Authority on Climate Prediction and Appraisal Center (ICPAC) believe that no single factor is responsible for climate change. Global warming has created conditions necessary for locust development, outbreak, and survival which is a matter of concern. It has been mentioned in the article that the warming of the locust is due to the warming of the Indian Ocean. The role of intense and unusual tropical cyclones and the strong rains and floods have played an important role.
