341 cows died of lumpy virus in this state, govt alerted

Dehradun: After Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh, now the lumpy virus has started wreaking havoc in Uttarakhand too. So far, 20,505 cases of the disease have been reported in the state while a total of 341 cows have died due to it. State Animal Husbandry Minister Saurabh Bahuguna said that at present, the recovery rate of cows from Lumpy is 40 per cent and the death rate is 1.6 per cent.

Minister Saurabh Bahuguna also held a review meeting with the officials of the Animal Husbandry Department in view of the worsening condition of the lumpy virus. He said that nodal officers have been appointed by the government to monitor the spread of infection. Giving information about the vaccines, Minister Saurabh Bahuguna said that 6 lakh vaccines are available with us. 5 lakh 80 thousand vaccines have been distributed in all the districts of the state. An order for 4 lakh vaccines has been placed by the state government.

Saurabh Bahuguna requested the cattle rearers to ensure that every cattle rearer must get his animals insured. In case of any loss, the cattle rearers will get proper compensation. Apart from this, a toll-free number 18001208862 was also issued for cattle rearers. Any information related to this Lumpy disease can be obtained here. SOP has also been issued by the government regarding this disease. There is a complete ban on the trade of animals from lumpy disease-affected areas. Haridwar and Dehradun are the worst affected districts due to lumpy infection. 11,350 cases of the lumpy virus have been reported in Haridwar and 6,383 in Dehradun.
