Maha Shivratri 2018: Lord Shiva’s Devotees throng on Pashupatinath, Nepal

New Delhi [India], Feb.13 (NT):  KATHMANDU: Devotees throng from various places of the Himalayan Nation Nepal and neighboring India has gathered in Pashupatinath Temple since early Tuesday morning to offer prayers and celebrate Maha Shivaratri festival.

All four doors of the iconic Shiva temple were opened at 3:15 for the devotees to offer prayers to Lord Shiva and getting Blessed, said the director of the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) Bhola Sitaula.

Arrangements have been made for the devotees to cross the threshold of the main temple from three doors (a door in the south of Pingalasthan, another in the west of Jayabageshwori-Bhubaneshwar, and the third from Mitrapark-Umakunda-Basuki), he informed.

U.S Ambassador to Nepal, Alaina B. Teplitz also took her twitter handle and shared her greetings on the festival saying, "Happy Mahashivaratri #Nepal, a festival focused on overcoming darkness and ignorance! Love seeing the photos from this lively and colorful festival!", she tweeted.

Devotees of Lord Shiva on this special day observe fast and chant shlokas of Maha mraunjay Mantra. They offer milk, water, bel leaves (three leaves stalked in one) , Dhatoora and wild fruits to the Shivalingam. (NT)
