Mumbai: A man named Abdul Karim has been arrested after an egg was thrown at an idol of Lord Ganesha in Kamathipura, Maharashtra. The incident took place on Sunday (August 21, 2022) night when activists of Gali number 13 of Kamathipura Mandal were bringing an idol of Ganpati Bappa. It is alleged that in the meantime, a 25-year-old youth named Abdul Karim Atru Khan alias Shahbaz threw eggs at the idol. However, during this time his target was missed and the egg fell on the right side of the trolley on which the idol was being brought.  

Let us know that Ganesh Chaturthi, the biggest festival of Maharashtra, is just a few days away. This year, Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated on August 31 and in Maharashtra, this festival is celebrated with tremendous joy for 10 days. People come with Ganpati Bappa idol 15 days in advance. Mandal workers do these things. From the site of statue construction to the place of worship, the idol is brought with pomp. After the idol is installed in the pandal, the worship starts and then preparations are made for the festival. Similarly, 'Amrit Kala Mandal' of Street No. 13 of Kamathipura has been celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi for the last 34 years. This time too, he was bringing Bappa's idol from Chinchpokli. But, when this method was passing through the cottage building, an egg was thrown at the idol. This provoked Mandal workers, however, they did not indulge in any kind of violence. He informed the police about the incident on 100.  

At the same time, a police officer going on a bike from there was called by Mandal workers. The Nagpada police station was then informed, and officials rushed to the spot. The egg was thrown from the second floor of the building. When the police reached there, a woman and an elderly man were found in a house, who was not answering the police's questions. Then during the search, Abdul Karim was found hiding in the bathroom. Abdul couldn't even answer why he was hiding. After interrogation, he confessed to his crime, following which he was taken to the police station. An FIR has been registered in the matter. The accused has been arrested and put in jail.
