Palghar: A case of looting jewellery worth Rs 1.66 lakh of a woman against two transgenders in Palghar district of Maharashtra has been registered. Police spokesperson Hemant Katkar said that according to a complaint filed by one of the victims, two transgenders wearing sarees came to her house in Vasai area on June 16 and said his family had received a 'curse' and that they could help him overcome it.

Hemant Katkar said the two then asked the woman to bring jewelry that she needed to perform the ritual. Hemant Katkar said that the complainant told the police in complaint that she was scared in the name of curse and gave her jewellery worth Rs 87,500 to transgenders. The accused then asked for water from the woman. As soon as the woman went inside the kitchen to collect the water, the two escaped with jewellery.

She said that a 30-year-old woman from Vasai has also filed a similar complaint that two transgenders had absconded with jewellery worth Rs 79,000. The official said that based on the complaint, the police have registered a case against him under the relevant sections and started their search. Both transgenders are yet to be identified. The district police has appealed to the people to be vigilant about such incidents and not to indulge in the bluff of any such person.
