Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to inaugurate the Maharishi Valmiki Airport in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, tomorrow. The airport, named after the revered sage poet Maharishi Valmiki, marks a significant step in the government's commitment to modernize transportation hubs across the country. Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia highlighted PM Modi's dedication to developing contemporary airports and railway stations. Maharishi Valmiki, renowned for penning the epic Ramayana, receives this honor through the airport's naming.

Here are the Top Attractions of the newly constructed Ayodhya airport:

  • Location: The Shri Ram International Airport is situated approximately 15 kilometers away from the heart of Ayodhya city.
  • Terminal Area: Spanning across 6500 square meters, the airport's terminal is designed to cater to around 1 million passengers annually.
  • Sustainability Features: The airport's terminal boasts various sustainability elements such as insulated roofing, LED lighting, rainwater harvesting, landscaped areas with fountains, water treatment and sewage plants, a solar power setup, among other features, aiming to achieve a prestigious GRIHA 5-star rating.
  • Runway Capacity: The airport's extended runway is capable of accommodating A-321/B-737 type aircraft operations.
  • Commencement of Services: IndiGo is anticipated to launch the inaugural flight from Delhi Airport to Ayodhya. Commercial services are scheduled to commence from January 6.
  • PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for a greenfield township in Ayodhya, a project valued at over Rs. 2180 crore. The Prime Minister will also kickstart the operations of two new Amrit Bharat trains - the Darbhanga-Ayodhya-Anand Vihar Terminal Amrit Bharat Express and the Malda Town-Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminus (Bengaluru) Amrit Bharat Express - along with six new Vande Bharat trains.

Furthermore, PM Modi is slated to dedicate three railway projects totaling Rs. 2300 crore. These encompass the Rooma Chakeri-Chanderi third line project, segments of the Jaunpur-Ayodhya-Barabanki doubling project, and the electrification project of the Malhaur-Daliganj railway section.

Moreover, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for infrastructure projects, including the Lucknow-Ayodhya section of NH-28 (new NH-27), upgrades to the existing Ayodhya bypass, the establishment of a CIPET center, and the construction of offices for the Municipal Corporation Ayodhya.
