Mumbai: The situation in Amravati continues to be tense even today after the Tripura violence in Maharashtra. Amravati closed in the morning turned violent. Police had to resort to lathi-charge to control the stone-pelting mob. Several Muslim organisations staged a fierce protest against Tripura violence in Amravati on Friday. Amravati Patron Minister Yashomati Thakur has informed in this regard. The situation in Amravati is tense but under control at the moment. At 10 a.m., the Amravati bandh turned violent. There was stone pelting from the crowd. Tear gas shells were then fired by the police and a lathi charge was resorted to. The situation is currently under control and Section 144 has been imposed in the district. The situation in Nanded is under control.
