Sharjah: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has cited the reason for the defeat in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) match against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Saturday. He said that due to leaving the catches of unbeaten century innings Shikhar Dhawan many times, his team has suffered.
On the strength of Dhawan's unbeaten 101-run knock off 58 balls, DC defeated CSK by five wickets. Dhoni said at the award ceremony after the match that Dwayne Bravo walked out of the ground due to injury, which led to the bowling of Ravindra Jadeja in the last over. He further said that Bravo was not fit, he came out of the field and did not return again. I had the option to bowl with Jadeja or Karna Sharma, but I chose Jadeja.
Dhoni further said that Shikhar's wicket was very important, but we had his catch several times. He continued batting and during this time his strike rate was also excellent. In the second innings, the wicket was also a little easier. However, now we cannot take credit from Dhawan. Dhoni said that the situation had become difficult for him due to the ease of the pitch.
