Kolkata: The Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) is now gearing up for its political opportunities outside Bengal after registering a victory in the West Bengal assembly elections. In the same vein, after Tripura and Assam, TMC is now preparing to contest in Goa. TMC General Secretary and Mamata Banerjee's nephew Abhishek Banerjee on Sunday said the party will contest the Goa assembly elections in the coming days.
Former Goa Chief Minister and veteran Congress leader Luizinho-Falero (Luizinho Faleiro) is also expected to join the TMC today. Mamata Banerjee is likely to visit in February. The Trinamool Congress wants to take over small states and step into national-level politics. Party sources said TMC have targeted Tripura as well as Goa. TMC President Mamata Banerjee is likely to take over the campaign in next year's Goa assembly elections as well.
TMC has also started expanding the party in Goa. Former Goa CM and senior Congress leader Luizinho Falero is likely to hold on to TMC today. He's going to hold a press conference this afternoon. He is said to be announcing his joining the TMC in this press conference. According to congressional sources, the party has nothing to do with Luizinho's press conference. After that, rumours of him joining the TMC started gaining momentum. The former CM has not been in touch with the party for a long time.
