KOLKATA: Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, who took to the streets to protest against manhandling of wrestlers in Delhi, rode pillion on a motorbike today. She was participating in a candle march to the Gandhi statue in support of protesting wrestlers.

The Chief Minister and TMC supremo can be seen waving to her followers in a video that is currently going viral online as her motorbike starts to move and her security personnel begin to follow the bike on foot.

Banerjee declared that she would fight for justice all the way to the end as she organised a demonstration in support of the wrestlers' revolt against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Chief Brij Bhushan Singh.

Banerjee argued that the BJP has held the top positions in every sporting organisation in the nation, maintaining that their campaign was an effort to preserve life, pursue justice, and gain independence. 

“I will request the wrestlers to continue their movement. This fight is for life, for independence, for humanitarian justice," Banerjee said.

"A POCSO complaint has been filed against the head of the WFI, and despite the court's intervention, the police have taken no action. The BJP leader ought to be detained, not just resigned. I feel bad about what happened. We'll fight until the wrestlers who are protesting receive justice," she said. 

Banerjee led a candlelight vigil from the Gostha Pal statue at Maidan to the Mahatma Gandhi statue at the Mayo Road-Dufferin Road intersection. Gostha Pal was the first captain of the Indian football team.
