New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. Mamta is counted among the biggest opponents of the Modi government. She gets involved with the Center on almost every issue. Mamta is on a four-day Delhi visit. The meeting is considered important and is taking place at a time when many Trinamool Congress leaders and former Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajiv Kumar are under the scanner of the CBI probe in the Ponzi scam case.
Mamata, a staunch critic of the BJP and PM Modi, was angry before the BJP won 18 seats in West Bengal in the Lok Sabha elections. Mamata Banerjee's resentment has further intensified after BJP infiltrated TMC. The situation between the two leaders has deteriorated so much that neither Mamata nor any of her ministers have been reaching any central government meeting for the last several months.
According to sources, the two leaders will discuss administrative matters in West Bengal. The Chief Minister's Office last week sought time from the Prime Minister's Office for the meeting. The last time the two leaders met was at the convocation in Shanti Niketan on 25 May 2018. Let me tell you that the BJP has become very active in Bengal in recent times. He is also getting political success in the state.
