NEW DELHI: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will have a virtual review conference with health ministers from southern states and union territories on Friday to discuss the Covid-19 crisis.
The purpose of the meeting is to assess public health preparedness in the southern states.
According to a source, the meeting will include health ministers from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, and Andmand Nicobar Island. Mandaviya is anticipated to assess these states' public health preparedness and containment efforts in the face of the new Covid variant Omicron. The conference is also likely to include other senior state health authorities.
On Tuesday, Mandaviya convened a virtual meeting with representatives from Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi, Ladakh, and Uttar Pradesh to discuss the Covid issue.
During the virtual meeting, he urged states to assess and expedite the implementation of activities under the ECRP-II package for building health infrastructure. Mandaviya encouraged health ministers and state officials to fill current gaps by effectively allocating funds set aside for various infrastructure projects.
