New Delhi: India's Paddler Manika Batra's journey at the Tokyo Olympics has come to an end. She lost 0-4 to Austria's Sofia Polkanova in the third round. Earlier she relinquished the third round after defeating 20th seed Margaret Pesotska of Ukraine. On the other hand, Achanta Sharath Kamal has kept the medal hope intact. He entered the third round after defeating Tiago Apollonia of Portugal in the men's singles event. 

The match between Manika Batra and Sofia Polkanova of Austria lasted for 27 minutes. Batra and Polkanova had an early clash, but the Austrian won against Manika and won the first set 11-8. Throughout the second set, Sofia looked dominating. He won the set 11-2, which lasted just 4 minutes. They won 11-5 in the third round and won the fourth round 11-7.


Here telling about Sharath Kamal he defeated Tiago 4-2 in the second round of the men's singles event on Monday. The entire match continued for 48 minutes. Tiago looked very agile in Game 1 and as a result, he put pressure on Sharath early in the day to win it 11-2. Kamal bounced back in the second set and Won it 11-8 and as a result, the match was tied at 1-1. Kamal then continued his scintillating performance to take a 5-0 lead in the third set. The 39-year-old quickly took a 2-1 lead in the match, not letting the opportunity pass. He will now face China's champion Ma Long.
