Imphal: Manipur Police commemorated its 132nd Raising Day with a renewed commitment to precise and public-friendly policing, as announced in a press release on Thursday. The celebration took place at the First Manipur Rifles Parade Ground.

It's important to note that October 21st is observed annually as Police Commemoration Day, which pays homage to the 10 CRPF personnel who lost their lives in a Chinese attack in 1959. Let's delve into the historical significance of this day.

The official statement emphasized the exceptional attributes of the Manipur Police, highlighting their resilience, discipline, and their ability to endure hard work, hardships, and deprivations.

"We are now placing a strong emphasis on meticulous and comprehensive investigations as well as fostering a public-friendly approach to policing. As we reflect on our past achievements, we recommit ourselves to serving the people of Manipur and the nation," the statement added.

The Manipur Police Department introduced an inter-battalion competition in 2016 to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Manipur Police. This year, the prestigious DGP Running Trophy for the Best Battalion in 2023 was awarded to the 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles, according to the press release.

In 2016, the department also established an annual inter-district competition to recognize the Best Police Station and Best Police Officer.

The event was graced by the presence of Chief Minister Biren Singh as the Chief Guest and Rajeev Singh, the DGP of Manipur. In his message, the Chief Minister applauded the state's police force for their unwavering commitment.

"Today, we celebrate the dedication of our police personnel who tirelessly uphold law and order, combat crime, and instill a sense of security among our citizens. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Manipur Police on their Raising Day and anticipate their continued dedication to our state," the Chief Minister expressed in a statement.

Additionally, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh took the opportunity during the Raising Day event to discuss the rehabilitation efforts for individuals displaced during the turbulent periods of violence in Manipur.

"We are providing Rs 10 lakhs for the construction of permanent houses to replace those that were destroyed, and Rs 5 lakhs for building temporary houses under the CM Support Scheme. Multiple schemes are in place, including the 'One Family One Livelihood' initiative, which can extend up to Rs 10 lakhs per family, all of which will be facilitated by the Government," the Chief Minister announced.

In line with the Chief Minister's updates on X, construction work on 28 prefabricated houses in T Bethlehem, Churachandpur district, is progressing smoothly. Three more sites have been identified and handed over to the construction company. The construction of prefabricated houses in Keithelmanbi is proceeding at a rapid pace, while similar projects are underway in Saikul and Hengbung in Kangpokpi district.

"I am pleased to witness the substantial progress in the construction of prefabricated houses in Keithelmanbi, Kangpokpi District. These endeavors represent a positive step towards offering temporary housing solutions for the displaced populations in the violence-affected regions of the state," the Chief Minister added in his statement on X.
