Despite the appointment of Joseph to the Supreme Court, the dispute is still going on. Many judges of the Supreme Court are unhappy with the Central Government's decision to reduce Justice Joseph's seniority, with some members of the Supreme Court Collegium. Notification of promotion has been issued to Justice Joseph and two other judges as Judges of the High court.

In the notice issued on Friday, Justice Joseph has been named after him along with two other judges, Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice Vineet Saran appointed in the Supreme Court. This can affect the prospect of becoming Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Justice Joseph and chairing the bench.

High judicial sources of the Supreme Court say that some of the judges involved in the Collegium will meet Chief Justice Deepak Mishra today to apprise him of his displeasure on the government's decision. These judges can demand corrective steps in this matter before the CJI Mishra's swearing-in ceremony. The three judges appointed in the Supreme Court can take oath on Tuesday (August 7th). Some members of the Supreme Court Bar Association say that on this issue they will also meet their respective parties by meeting with the CJI.

There were differences between the five-member college and the central government for the past several months in the appointment of Justice Joseph's Supreme Court. Uttarakhand High Court Chief Justice Joseph cancelled the Center's decision to impose presidential rule in 2016. There was a Congress government at that time in Uttarakhand. The Collegium had on January 10 recommended the appointment of his name to the Supreme Court, but the government returned his name.
