Kanpur: The verdict has come after 43 years in the famous Behmai murder case of Kanpur Dehat, Uttar Pradesh. In this case, one accused has been sentenced to life imprisonment while the other accused has been acquitted.

Reports say that in the Behmai case of Kanpur Dehat, on Wednesday, the Anti-Dacoity Court of Kanpur Dehat has sentenced a criminal to life imprisonment. Also, the court has acquitted one accused. Along with the plaintiff, many accused including the main accused Phoolan Devi have lost their lives in the case. A total of 36 people were found accused in this incident.

The court found one of the two accused in jail, Shyam Babu, guilty in the Behmai case and sentenced him to life imprisonment, while one of the accused, Vishwanath, was acquitted due to lack of evidence.

What was the Behmai incident?: According to the information received so far, on 14 February 1981, in Behmai village situated on the banks of Yamuna in Rajpur police station area of ​​Kanpur Dehat, dacoit Phoolan Devi had made 20 people stand in a line and shot them dead. The killers were all Thakurs. After this incident, this incident was also discussed in the country and abroad.

Not only this, many foreign media had also camped in the district and when the entire village and district was shivering due to this incident, Rajaram, a resident of the same village, went ahead to file a case, he named 14 people including Phoolan Devi and Mustaqeem. A case was registered against 36 dacoits, but the Behmai scandal, which shocked the entire country, got so entangled in poor lobbying and legal complications that even in 42 years, the victims could not get justice.

Now it is also being said that most of the dacoits named in the much talked about case along with 28 witnesses have died. Plaintiff Rajaram used to come to Mati Court on every date in the hope of getting justice and reached the District Court for hearing. But in the hope of justice, plaintiff Rajaram has also said goodbye to this world.
