Massive landslide on Kedarnath highway, passengers narrowly escaped

Dehradun: Rain continues in Kedarghati. Due to this, there has been a landslide on the Kedarnath Highway. Thankfully, vehicles passing by did not come under the debris of the hill. The Chardham Yatra is also being affected due to the rains. On Wednesday evening, a dangerous landslide occurred from the hill near Phata on Kedarnath Highway. At the same time, several tons of debris and boulders fell from the hill to the highway. Thankfully, the drivers stopped after seeing the debris falling from the hill. However, a passenger bus suffered some damage.

Due to landslides after the rains, traffic is being disrupted on Badrinath and Kedarnath Highways at various places. Commuters are stuck in jams for hours. Life has been disrupted due to continuous rains for the last one week. Chardham Yatra is also being affected. Due to continuous rains, the cold has also started increasing in the mountains. According to the Meteorological Department, Uttarakhand will receive moderate rainfall on September 21 and 22.    

On the other hand, heavy rains have caused an outcry in many states of the country. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature in the national capital Delhi is expected to be 23 degrees and the maximum temperature will be 31 degrees today, September 22. With this, some parts of Delhi may receive rain once or twice with thundershowers today. Delhi is also likely to receive rains on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
