Matt Hutchins, Halyna Hutchins' husband, has issued a statement addressing the horrible event that occurred on the set of 'Rust,' in which a fake handgun fired and killed Halyna. According to media sources, Matt issued a message on Twitter beside a photo of his late wife. "With her passion and vision, Halyna inspired us all, and her legacy is too significant to express in words," he wrote.

"We have suffered a great loss, and we ask that the media respect my family's privacy while we grieve. We appreciate everyone who has shared photos and anecdotes about her life." The cameraman was shot by a fake gun with a live round of ammo on Thursday, when Halyna was in New Mexico filming the western 'Rust.'

She was flown to the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque by helicopter and died shortly after. Authorities have verified that veteran actor Alec Baldwin fired the fatal shot, however an ongoing "shooting inquiry" is underway to learn more about the events leading up to the disaster.

Following her passing, friends and colleagues in the profession paid tribute to the cinematographer. "We lost a genuinely unique talent, and it kills me to think of the images she never got the chance to make," said Stas Bondarenko, a fellow cameraman.

In 2019, American Cinematographer magazine named Halyna an emerging star, and she was working on films including 'Archenemy,' 'Snowbound,' 'Darlin,' 'Blindfire,' and 'The Mad Hatter.'
