Lucknow: Mayank Joshi, son of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha MP Rita Bahuguna Joshi, has quit the BJP and joined the Samajwadi Party (SP). At an election rally in Azamgarh in the presence of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, he has taken on the SP. According to information, Mayank was seeking a ticket for the assembly elections from Lucknow's Cantt seat, but the BJP did not give him a ticket, he was very upset with it. 

The BJP has fielded its veteran leader and cabinet minister Brajesh Pathak from Lucknow Cantt's seat. After joining SP, Mayank Joshi has given the reason for leaving BJP in an interview. He has said that there is discrimination against Brahmins in BJP. Mayank Joshi further said that he has come to the Samajwadi Party after being influenced by the progressive thinking of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav.

Mayank Joshi said Akhilesh Yadav talked about development, women's safety, MSP, farmers, youth, laptops and tablets in the elections, while on the other hand, see what is being said from the ruling party. He said that the man who spoke of development and taking the state forward, as a youth, we should stand with him.
