New Delhi: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti slammed "outgoing president" Ram Nath Kovind on Monday, accusing him of fulfilling the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) political agenda at the cost of the Constitution.

In a Tweet, PDP chief site Mufti slammed the former president for scrapping Article 370, CAA.

"The outgoing President leaves a legacy in which the Indian Constitution has been trampled on several occasions. He completed the BJP's political agenda at the cost of the Indian Constitution, whether it was the repeal of Article 370, the CAA, or the open targeting of minorities and Dalits "Mufti said. Her words came after NDA candidate Droupadi Murmu took oath as India's 15th President in New Delhi today.

Following the completion of the vote counting on Thursday, President Murmu was formally declared the country's 15th President. President Ram Nath Kovind's term concluded on Sunday.

Murmu is the first tribal person and only the second woman to hold the country's highest constitutional office. She was Jharkhand's first female governor, holding the position from 2015 until 2021.
Murmu completed her studies despite being born into a destitute tribal family in the village of Mayurbhanj, a backward area in Odisha. She was a teacher at the Shri Aurobindo Integral Education Centre in Rairangpur.
