Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supremo and former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti has been served a notice to vacate her government bungalow in the high-security Gupkar area. Mehbooba Mufti further said, 'I was given an eviction notice from Fair View a few days ago. This is not surprising and is as expected.'

Mehbooba Mufti said that it has been mentioned in the notice that the bungalow is for the CM of Jammu and Kashmir, but it is not so. She said, 'This place was allotted to my father (Mufti Mohammad Sayeed) in December 2005, when he left the CM post. Therefore, the bases given by the administration were not proper.' When asked whether she would challenge the notice in court, Mehbooba said she would consult her legal team. The PDP supremo said that 'I do not have a place where I can live. So I have to consult my legal team before taking a decision.' Meanwhile, it is reported that in view of the safety of Mehbooba Mufti, another alternative house has been arranged for her.

PDP youth general secretary Mohit Bhat said the bungalow was allotted to former CM late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in 2005 on security grounds. Mufti Sahib wanted to move to his Naugam residence on the outskirts of the city. At that time he was not allowed to go to Nowgam. It is clear that this residence has nothing to do with the Chief Minister or the former CM, but it is purely a matter of security.
