SAN SALVADOR: Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, both playing for Inter Miami, began their preseason with an even 0-0 draw against El Salvador's national team. This friendly match occurred just four days after Messi was honored as FIFA's best men's player.

The dynamic duo, who previously showcased their talents together for six seasons at Barcelona, impressed fans in the first half at the Cuscatlán stadium. Enthusiastic supporters gathered hours before the match, and even El Salvador's president, Nayib Bukele, welcomed Messi and the team at the Presidential House ahead of the game.

In the initial 45 minutes, Messi had a couple of scoring opportunities and set up a chance for Jordi Alba in the 39th minute, but El Salvador's goalkeeper, Mario González, made a crucial save.

During the second half, Inter Miami's coach, Gerardo Martino, decided to rest key players like Messi, Suarez, Alba, and Busquets. Despite the changes, Inter Miami held onto possession, but El Salvador came close to scoring when Steven Vázquez's shot hit the crossbar in the 83rd minute.

Messi, at the age of 36, joined Inter Miami in July and immediately left his mark, scoring 10 goals in seven games. His pivotal role helped secure the club's first-ever trophy by winning the Leagues Cup final on August 19.

Looking forward, Inter Miami's next challenge is against FC Dallas at the Cotton Bowl on Monday. Following that, they'll embark on an international journey, facing Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia on January 29 and taking on Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr on February 2.
