NEW DELHI: THREADS, the Twitter alternative by Meta, has garnered an impressive 70 million followers. Exciting news awaits Android users as Meta launches its beta program, offering early access to new features and bug fixes.

The invitation for the Android beta program assures users that "certain data on your app usage will be collected and shared with the developer to enhance the app."

"For those Android enthusiasts who thrive on embracing the forefront of technology, sign up below for our beta. Get exclusive access to the latest features and bug fixes, although it comes with a caveat of a potentially less stable build due to its early stage," revealed one of the company's engineers.

TechCrunch reports that interested individuals can now immediately sign up for beta access, as there is no waitlist.

Meanwhile, Mark Zuckerberg, the Founder and CEO of Meta, expressed his surprise at Threads surpassing 70 million sign-ups, exceeding their initial expectations.

Adam Mosseri, CEO of Instagram, acknowledged the existence of numerous platforms for public conversations. However, he emphasized their desire to develop an open and community-oriented space for Instagram users amidst the current circumstances, as he shared with The Verge.

Currently, Threads lacks certain features, including direct messages, a "Following" feed, a comprehensive web version, a chronological feed, and more.

Threads is already available on iOS and Android in 100 countries, with the exception of the European Union due to data privacy regulations.
