MG Astor SUV to launch next month, Specifications unveiled

After the Hector, Hector Plus, Gloster, and ZS EV, MG Motor is planning to debut the Astor SUV in India in 2021. The Astor SUV, which is essentially an ICE version of the electrified ZS model, promises to be jam-packed with amenities that may give even compact SUV category leaders like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, or Tata Harrier a run for their money. The Astor SUV is anticipated to debut in the first week of October, according to MG Motor. The Astor SUV's variations and trims have been completely unveiled as the automaker prepares for its introduction. MG, on the other hand, has yet to provide any formal information.

The Astor SUV will be available in eight compact sedans and around 20 variations, according to MG. Style, Super, Smart STD, Smart, Sharp STD, Sharp, Savvy, and Savvy Red are the trim levels offered by MG Motor. These grades will come with two engine options for the Astor SUV. The first is a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a peak torque of 220 NM and a power output of 140 PS. The larger 1.5-litre petrol engine produces 110 PS of peak power and 144 Nm of peak torque.

The 1.3-litre engine will be paired to a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission. There will be two gearbox options for the 1.5-litre vehicle. The first is a 5-speed manual transmission, while the second is 8-speed CVT transmission. The MG Astor will be available in seven compact sedans, including Super, Smart STD, Smart, Sharp STD, Sharp, Savvy, and Savvy Red, with the turbocharged 1.3-litre petrol engine. The manual 1.5-litre model will be available in only five trims, while the automatic version will be available in seven.

 

In terms of features, MG will equip the top two trims, Savvy and Savvy Red, with all of the available options. This includes the advanced driver assistant system (ADAS) and AI personal assistant.

Through voice commands, the AI personal assistant, which features the voice of paralympian Deepa Malik, can help you manage the sunroof, climate control, navigation, and music settings.MG will equip the Astor with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a 360-degree camera and high-resolution video playback. The driver's display, which measures seven inches, is likewise rather large.

The advanced driver assistant system, or ADAS, will be available on the MG Astor SUV for the first time in its category. With Autonomous Level 2 technology, it will assist to ensure safer driving. There are up to 14 autonomous functions in the technology, including lane-keep assist, collision warning, and a driver alert system, among others.
