New Delhi: Mike Hesson and Sanjay Bangar's tenure as head coaches with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) was officially ended on Friday with the appointment of the incredibly experienced Andy Flower. Hesson, the director of cricket operations, and Bangar, the head coach, both had September contract renewals coming up, but the team chose to part ways with both of them.

Hesson expressed his gratitude to the RCB supporters in a heartfelt post on Instagram, and he also thanked the team's owners for giving him the chance.

Hesson admitted that he was disappointed that he was unable to lead the team to the elusive IPL championship. He also sent his best wishes to Flower, the new head coach.

"Although we were able to make good progress making 3 playoffs in the last 4 seasons we were not able to win the elusive trophy that I like so many players, support staff and the amazing fans so dearly wanted. Although disappointed to be leaving RCB I have some very fond memories working with great people both on and off the park," he captioned a post.
