Mizoram reports 138 new COVID-19 cases among children

Aizawl: According to the health department, 574 people in Mizoram have tested positive for the infection in the last 24, taking the state's tally to 1,17,261. Recorded 9.47 per cent single-day positivity rate of COVID-19 in 24 hours. 138 children are also included in 574 people. He said the death toll rose to 407 as seven more people succumbed to the infection during the same period.

The number of new infections was 173 less than the number of COVID-19 cases reported on Saturday. Aizawl district reported the highest number of cases at 298, followed by Lunglei district (64) and Serchhip district (61), the official said. The number of Covid-19 active cases now stands at 8,943, while 1,258 people have been cured as on Saturday, taking the total recoveries to 1,07,911. The recovery rate of Kovid-19 patients in the state is 92 percent and the death rate is 0.34 percent.

Mizoram has so far conducted over 12.67 lakh sample tests for COVID-19, out of which 6,037 samples were tested on Saturday. Mizoram Immunization Officer Dr Laljawmi said that till Saturday more than 6.93 lakh people have been vaccinated, out of which 5.02 lakh people have received the full dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
