Aizawl: Mizoram Sports Minister Robert Romavia Royte (Sports Minister Robert Romawia Royte) and former minister C. Vulluaia are paying for the rations of poor people in their respective regions in view of the global epidemic corona virus causing many people to become unemployed and difficulties in buying food items.

Royte, who won from Aizawl East-II constituency in the 2018 assembly elections, has announced that he will bear the ration expenses of more than 11,000 poor people in his area for eight months and will bear the expenses with his own money, not from government funds. The Sports Minister has delivered rations to 11,087 people in May. Aizawl East-II region (Aizawl East-2) in Mizoram is the most affected area from corona. Aizawl Football Club owner Royte said he has been saving his monthly salary for poor people ever since he was elected to the assembly elections in 2018.

Meanwhile, former law minister and eminent journalist C Vulluaia has also borne the ration expenses of more than 500 poor families in the Dawarpui Vengator area in Aizawl in May. New cases of corona infection in the country are steadily declining, but the situation is still not good. In Mizoram, 235 new cases of corona infection have been registered in the last 24 hours, with the number of infection cases in the state increasing to 12,634.
