Former Union Minister MJ Akbar On Friday said during the hearing of the Meitu case in Rouse Avenue Court that the allegations of sexual harassment made on her by a female journalist are fabricated. This has caused irreparable damage to his image in society. Akbar said before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vishal Pahuja that he had to resign from his political post on 17 October 2018 due to false allegations leveled during the Meitu campaign. Akbar filed a criminal defamation case against the journalist in this case. During his hearing, he presented his stand before the court.

On this matter, Akbar's lawyer Geeta Luthra questioned that if any such incident had happened then why the accused journalist did not complain in the concerned department at that time. How did they think of complaining suddenly after about 20 years of the incident. He said that the female journalist thoughtfully made allegations against her client.

For your information, let us tell you that during the Meetu campaign, along with women journalists, many other women had also made allegations of sexual harassment against MJ Akbar. A case was registered against MJ Akbar in this case. Akbar filed a criminal defamation complaint against this case.
