 Mizo National Front (MNF) chief Zoramthanga took oath as the chief minister of Mizoram at the Raj Bhavan in Aizawl on Saturday. The oath taking ceremony held at Raj Bhawan in Aizawl in which Governor K Rajasekharan administered the oath of office and secrecy to Zoramthanga.

On Wednesday, Governor Rajasekharan had formally invited Zoramthanga to form the next government in the state after his party emerged as the single largest party in the state. Talking about election result, His party won 26 seats in the recently-concluded Mizoram Assembly Elections. In the 40-member Assembly, Congress party, which had been in power since 2008, was reduced to only 5 seats.

In the past Zoramthanga had held the position of the chief minister of the state twice. He has been a former rebel leader and was a close associate of Laldenga, the founder of MNF and one of the tallest leaders of Mizo politics.

Meanwhile, the BJP finally managed to open its account in the state by winning one seat in the state polls which took place on November 28.  Talking about The Congress had dominated the 2013 elections, winning 34 out of the 40 seats in the Assembly. On the other hand, the MNF had won only 5 seats.
