Ranchi: Reports of police attacks are once again coming to light from the Sahibganj district of Jharkhand. The incident took place when police in plainclothes had gone to Pranpur Bazar in the Radhanagar police station area to arrest Rabiul Sheikh. He is accused of embezzlement in non-banking company Heir Finance. The incident took place on Thursday (September 30, 2021). According to reports, When the Mehrama police station in Godda district reached the spot to nab Sheikh, they were attacked by the mob.

The accused took advantage of the commotion and fled the spot. Those involved in the attack on the police were known to Sheikh. A person from the Thakurganti police station area of Godda district has lodged a complaint against Sheikh for embezzlement of money. According to reports, three policemen led by an under inspector of Mehrama police station reached Pranpur on Thursday in a Bolero vehicle in plain uniform. The mob attacked the police while the policemen were putting Sheikh in the vehicle. This was followed by a stampede on the spot. Sheikh fled in the same stampede. Abdus Salam, 50, died.

According to the report, the police saved their lives by taking shelter in the house of the head of Palashgachi Panchayat. Radhanagar police later reached the spot and evacuated them safely. It is being told that due to the presence of police in white clothes, the villagers attacked them considering them as kidnappers. This is not the first case of an attack on the police force in Radhanagar. Police were attacked by a violent mob at the primary health sub-centre in Radhanagar in 2017.
