New Delhi: The Modi government has forcefully retired 21 tax officials in the charge of corruption. For the fifth time, the government has announced the removal of corrupt officers from the system. According to sources in the Ministry of Finance, the government has been running a campaign to catch the officials involved in corruption and other wrongdoings and such corrupt officers are being forced to retire as a punishment.

The Finance Ministry has said in its statement that the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBTD) has forcibly retired 21 Income Tax Officers of Group B rank under Fundamental Rule 56 (J) in the public interest. Apart from corruption, all these officers have other serious charges and are under the scanner of CBI. Actually, the fundamental rule 56 can be used on such officers who are between 50 and 55 years of age and have completed their 30-year term.

The government has the right to grant such retirement to such officers. The government's aim behind doing this is to retire the non-performing public servant. In such a situation, the government decides which officers are not useful.
