New Delhi: The Central Government has taken a major decision in the wake of women's hygiene problem. The government will now provide sanitary napkins to women for rs 1 only. For this, the government has reduced the price of sanitary napkins sold at public drug centres to just one rupee per pad. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya said that the government has taken this decision to promote women's hygiene.

Mandaviya said that the facility of biodegradable sanitary napkins will be available at public drug centres at the rate of one rupee per pad from today, i.e. from 27th Of August. Earlier, it was priced at Rs 2.5 00 per pad, which would cost Rs 10 for a 4 pad packet.  But from today, this pad packet will be available for just Rs.4.  "We are introducing the Oxo Biodegradable Sanitary Pad for just one rupee from today," he said.

The pads, named "Suvidha" brand, will be available at 5,500 Jan Aushadhi centres across the country.  With a 60 per cent price cut, the Narendra Modi government has fulfilled the BJP's promise in its manifesto in the Lok Sabha elections 2019 before 100 days.  Currently the manufacturer is supplying sanitary pads at production cost.
