New Delhi: Mohammed Zubair, the co-founder of the controversial website AltNews, does not seem to be getting relief at the moment. The Lakhimpur court has sent Zubair to 14-day judicial custody. A case was registered against Zubair in Lakhimpur in September 2021. The case was registered against a private channel for tweeting. Zubair's bail plea will now come up for hearing on July 13.

It may be recalled that a few days ago, Zubair got a temporary relief of 5 days from the Supreme Court in a case filed in Uttar Pradesh. The court then granted him interim bail. Zubair had filed the petition to evade arrest in the FIR lodged in Sitapur. However, the Supreme Court had also laid down the condition along with the verdict that Zubair would not make any tweets and would not leave the country.

Zubair was arrested by the Delhi Police on June 27. He was accused of tweeting that incited religious sentiments. Mo Zubair was shifted from Tihar Jail to Sitapur Jail. Here, the bail application filed in the CJM court was rejected by the court. Preparations were now underway to interrogate Zubair on police remand. According to the police, the remand was received till July 16. Zubair was taken from the national capital Delhi on Thursday amid heavy security. Delhi Police and Sitapur Police produced him before the court.
