After testing positive for Covid-19 and staying home-quarantined, Hyderabad’s first citizen Mayor Bonthu Rammohan is now among the growing tribe of corona conquerors. With the quarantine period over and the latest test turning out to be negative, the Mayor says one of his key strategies to counter the virus was exposure to morning sunlight. According to doctors, many people in the city suffer with deficiency of vitamin D and B12 due to poor exposure to morning sunlight. People should make it a point to spend at least 15 minutes in the morning sunlight every day, he says.

“Personally, I too lacked vitamin D and B12 which are important in boosting our immunity. Morning sunlight provides vitamin D for free and one should increase the intake of food rich in B12,” he adds. During his isolation period, Rammohan says he practiced breathing exercises apart from following the prescribed guidelines for early recovery. Except for a dry cough that lasted for a couple of days, he was asymptomatic.

Despite staying in self-isolation, the Mayor was reviewing the progress of various works being executed by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) through video conferences. This was one of the ways he found to divert the mind and stay active with work, he points out. This apart, he watched different programs on television. In addition, Rammohan was constantly in touch over the phone with several others who had tested positive and was guiding them on the procedures to be followed.
