Srinagar: Traffic on Mughal Road was stopped after heavy snowfall in Poonch area of The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. This road is often closed due to heavy snowfall in winter. Tell us that this route connects Poonch and Rajouri districts of Jammu region with Shopian in south Kashmir. The work of removing snow through machines from the road is continuing. The minimum temperature remained below freezing point at almost all places in the Kashmir Valley on Wednesday as well.

According to srinagar meteorological centre estimates, the minimum temperature in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh has increased by 4-5 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Tangmarg, Gulmarg and Babeshi areas recorded 2-3 inches of fresh snowfall from 4 am today. The work of removing snow is going on everywhere. According to the Met department, rain is also likely to occur in parts of Jammu and Kashmir on December 23 and 24. In Kashmir, a 40-day 'Chillai Kalan' round has begun from Tuesday, saying that it is freezing cold in the region in the meantime.

Meanwhile, the Met department has predicted more cold at night and a drop in minimum temperature in the coming few days. Earlier, light to moderate snowfall was also predicted between December 22 and 25. The department said the current weather conditions will continue for the next 24 hours. There is a possibility of much more snowfall on December 26-27.
