LUCKNOW: The Samajwadi Party's Lucknow headquarters erupted in cheers as soon as party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav arrived on Monday. It was his 83rd birthday, and the party had been ringing out loud and clear since morning.
On the occasion of the leader's birthday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wished him well. Pramod Tiwari, a former Congress MP, and Sanjay Singh, a member of the Aam Aadmi Party, also visited the leader at his home and wished him a happy birthday. Bands performed, party workers blasted 'dhols' in the streets, while folk singers sung songs to commemorate the event. Mulayam was greeted with shawls and flowers by Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav and party MP Prof. Ram Gopal Yadav.
At the party office, which was adorned with hoardings and posters wishing the party patriarch, an 83-kilogram 'laddoo' was a significant attraction. Mulayam Singh, visibly moved, waved to the thousands of people who had yelled slogans in his support and wished him a happy birthday. Poets presented poetry, while singers sung eulogies to the veterans.
Meanwhile, in Ayodhya, the Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav's 82-day birthday celebrations began in 'Shrawan Kumar Teerth Kshetra' in the Katehri Assembly constituency, 45 kilometres from Ayodhya.
