Mumbai: A sessions court in Mumbai has dismissed Parth Dasgupta's bail plea. You will all know that this bail plea was lodged by Partha Dasgupta, former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of rating agency BARC in the alleged fake TRP case. The Mumbai crime branch had arrested Partha Dasgupta from the Pune district last month. Earlier, a magistrate court had dismissed his bail plea and said, "He has played an important role in the scam.''
While opposing Dasgupta's bail plea in the sessions court, special public prosecutor Shishir Hire said, "The charge sheet has been filed in the case but there are still many things which need to be examined. Not only that, but he also argued, "Dasgupta is an important person and controls the entire system, so his release may affect the prosecution witnesses who work under him." He also drew the attention of the court to the alleged WhatsApp conversation between Dasgupta and Arnab Goswami of Republic TV.
In the meantime, he said, "We have shown the court a conversation on WhatsApp about TRP in which Dasgupta promised to bring down some other channels and bring the channel of Arnab to a higher place. At the moment, the police claimed that Goswami had given lakhs of rupees to Dasgupta." In the entire case, Republic TV and other accused have refused to do anything wrong and manipulate the TRP system.
